When visiting Bucharest, a nice central hotel like the Intercontinental Bucharest is the perfect place to stay to explore all Bucharest has to offer.
Location in Bucharest
If you are wondering where to stay in Bucharest, we have the perfect place to explore the best of Bucharest. If you are looking for a nice central spot to stay in Bucharest, the Intercontinental Bucharest is located just at the edge of Bucharest’s lively Old Town, near the Universitate metro stop and walking distance to most things you will want to see and do in Bucharest.
Nearby you’ll find great coffee shops and authentic Romanian restaurants, all within walking distance.
Check In/Arrival
Check-in was easy and cordial.
If arriving from the airport, use a cab from the airport. You can arrange a taxi inside the arrivals terminal at the taxi counter to ensure you are using an “official cab”.
Uber, while they operate in Bucharest, does not have a designated pick-up area and many of the drivers do not speak English. A cab is easier to manage from the airport, or arrange pick-up from your accommodation to meet you at the airport on arrival.
The Intercontinental Bucharest offers transfer services to/from the airport.
Public Spaces
Spectacular flowers, perfectly arranged and maintained greet you in the lobby. There is a large sitting area, a cocktail bar and the Corso Brasserie where breakfast is served off the lobby.
But the highlight is pool and fitness center on the 22nd floor.
The indoor pool, jacuzzi, spa and gym are on the rooftop with views overlooking Bucharest. The 21st floor also features a cocktail bar open to both guests and visitors. A good place for a relaxing drink to watch the sunset.
Guest Rooms
This hotel was quiet! The rooms are spacious, well-lit and feature the usual amenities you expect in an international hotel. There is plenty of room to unpack and the our room had a desk and a small table with chairs as well.
It also features the Intercontinental pillow menu allowing you to select your preference of pillow to ensure a good night’s sleep.
The balcony with fantastic views of the city was a great spot for photos of Bucharest.
Food at the Intercontinental Bucharest
Breakfast is a fantastic buffet in the Corso Brasserie with a wide selection.
Eggs are available on the buffet or fresh, cooked to order. You can order specialty egg dishes including Eggs Florentine or Eggs Benedict from the kitchen.
A choice of fresh juice changes daily. A full selection of breads, pastries, jams and spreads is available. Fresh fruit, muesli and a range of other hot and cold items round out the selection.
We stayed five nights and still had not made it through all the options on the breakfast buffet.
Room service is available 24 hours.
There are several bars, lounges and a restaurant in the hotel as well.
Highlight/Lowlight
The highlight was the staff. Everyone at this hotel was incredibly friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. It made our stay very pleasant.
As mentioned above, breakfast was also a highlight. After the first day, we realized we needed to allow more time for breakfast, it was worth it.
And we are very happy to report there were no lowlights at the Intercontinental Bucharest.
