The name, Ai Mori d’Oriente, translates to “Moors of the Orient.” While now the Jewish Ghetto, this area was once inhabited by Venice’s Moorish trading partners. This family run, friendly hotel has a stylish Moorish décor. The location in a more residential area of Venice offers the chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist zones and a chance to enjoy more local restaurants. The location on a small canal still offers lovely water views from some rooms.

Enjoy a pleasant 30 min walk to San Marco Square or catch the water taxi at the nearby Madonna dell ‘Orto vaporetto stop. It is easy to get to the airport on the boat from this hotel as well.

Hotel Palazzo Abadessa – Residenza d’Epoca

Set in a former Doge’s 16th-century residence, the beautifully restored Baroque style palace Hotel Palazzo Abadessa overlooks the Santa Sofia Canal in Cannaregio. With its own walled garden and private jetty it is a peaceful oasis in Venice.

The Gritti Palace

The Gritti Palace is one of the top rated 5-star luxury hotels in Venice known for its excellent service. The location offers water views of the Grand Canal, the Santa Maria della Salute (considered one of Venice’s greatest churches), and of the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni the present-day home of the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. In 5-minutes’ walk you can reach La Fenice Opera House, and St. Mark’s Square is 500 meters. The closest vaporetto stop, Santa Maria del Giglio is 400 meters.
