To keep you warm in the winter months- 14 easy healthy winter dinner recipes the whole family will love!
Is there any better time of the year for cooking than in winter? Not for me. I yearn for the cooler months so I can quietly potter around the kitchen and practice some slow cooking techniques.
It is a season for warming comfort foods – braises, slow cooker meals, casseroles and stews. Slow cooking suits cheaper cuts of meat and provides a great opportunity to increase your vegetable intake.
Here is a collection of 14 healthy winter dinner recipes from the Compass & Fork website. Most are braises but there are some wonderful, South East Asian dishes to spice up your winter as well.
This compilation features:
- vegetarian dishes;
- a range of stuffed meat and vegetable dishes where the meat is “just another ingredient” along with the vegetables:
- slow cooker dishes; and
- meat and fish dishes, where the meat and fish is the “star of the show”.

Such a great collection of recipes with varied flavors and ingredients…which all look and sound amazing! It was fun to see the country of origin for all the recipes too!

Yes the country of origin information is rather fascinating. I find it very interesting how food has “migrated” just like people!

Coq au vin is my personal favorite, but I’m half french, so…. This is a great roundup for colder weather, I just wish our mercury would cooperate – it’s 82° as I write this.

Hmmm, it is not 82 here. Let’s try about 15 as I write. So I have plenty of good meals to choose from.

What a great compilation! I love that it features vegetarian dishes and meat dishes and they are from all over the world! I love cooking in the cold months just like you – something about a pot of food and the smell of stew when the wind is blowing outside is making the house feel really cozy!
